Ibiza: Whitewashed Cliffs, Sunset Rituals
The water around Ibiza is clear enough to see the seabed from a boat. Credit goes to the Posidonia, the seagrass meadows that filter the sea and trap sediment along the coast. In the north, pine woods run down to small coves. Out west, the rock of Es Vedrà rises straight from the sea. People gather on the cliffs at Cala d'Hort to watch the sun drop behind it. Ibiza Town keeps its walled old quarter, Dalt Vila, above the port. The clubs of Playa d'en Bossa are a short drive south. The ten hotels below follow the coast clockwise, starting at the northern tip.
Getting Around Ibiza
Most of the island runs from late April into October. The big clubs open at the end of April, and their closing parties stretch from late September into October. Many hotels shut for the winter, so check dates before booking a shoulder month.
Distances look small on the map but take time on the roads. From the airport, Portinatx in the far north is about 40 minutes by car, and Cala Sant Vicent closer to an hour. Uber has run on the island since late 2023, alongside the licensed taxis. Even so, book a transfer for the ride home after a club night.
Days out are easy to plan. Las Dalias holds its market in Sant Carles on Saturdays, and Punta Arabí runs in Es Canar on Wednesdays. Fast ferries cross to Formentera in roughly 30 minutes. Anyone hiring a boat should know that anchoring on the seagrass is banned, so tie up to a buoy instead. For sunset at Cala d'Hort, book a restaurant table early.

🌲 The North Coast
The north is the greenest and quietest part of Ibiza, and the farthest from the clubs.
1. Six Senses Ibiza
📍 Location: Xarraca Bay, Portinatx, at the northern tip
The Cave Suites are set into the cliff, with terraces running down toward the water. They give this resort its signature. The estate covers some 20 acres above Xarraca Bay. Down on the shoreline, the Beach Caves serve Peruvian and Mexican plates among the rocks. Breakfast is a farmers' market laid out around a red vintage tractor. Most of the vegetables come from the hotel's own farm inland. The spa spreads over three floors, with a hammam and an infrared sauna. For a splurge, book the Cave Royale. The resort closes from November to April. Transfers are not included, so hire a car to explore the other bays.
Best for: A wellness week with the clubs well out of earshot.
2. El Somni Ibiza Dream Hotel by Grupotel
📍 Location: Cala Sant Vicent, on the northeast coast
The golden sand of Cala Sant Vicent starts right outside. The hotel sits on the beach itself in a quiet bay on the northeast coast. Ask for a room facing the sea, since the bay is the reason to come. Downstairs, the spa has a jet pool and a sauna, plus a steam room and an ice fountain for cooling off. Pool loungers tend to be taken by 8 a.m. Dalt Vila is about 36 kilometers away, close to 40 minutes by car. Taxis from this corner of the island add up quickly so a rental car makes sense for a longer stay.

Santa Eulària and the farmland around it swap the party scene for promenades and orchards.
3. Hotel Mongibello Ibiza
📍 Location: Siesta, on Es Caló de s'Alga cove near Santa Eulària
The pool is tiled in blue, and the interiors borrow from the Italian Riviera of the 1960s. Gio Ponti armchairs on brass legs and Testa di Moro ceramic heads fill the rooms. Lola's, the speakeasy, hides behind a mirrored mural in the lobby. White Ibiza calls the place "wonderfully retro." The hotel was upgraded to five stars last year, and it is geared toward adults. Book a suite with a terrace view, which comes with free airport transfers. For a slow morning on the water, the hotel's old wooden llaüt boat can be booked for a trip along the coast. Santa Eulària's center is a 10 to 15 minute stroll along the seafront. Some guests found pool service slow, so order lunch before the rush.
4. Hotel Rural Xereca
📍 Location: Puig d'en Valls, a short drive from Ibiza Town
Xereca has just 19 rooms, set in the old stables of a farmhouse among orange groves. Nearly every room opens onto a terrace or balcony over the garden or the pool. The pool is not heated at the start and end of the season. A small spa adds a sauna, a hot tub and Thai massage. For the most space, book the Garden Deluxe. The Garden Suite is the step down. This is a rural hotel in the agroturismo mold, and some guests found staff hard to flag down at the pool. Dalt Vila is only about six minutes away by car, and the airport about twelve.
Ideal for: A countryside base with the old town close by.

5. Destino Five Ibiza
📍 Location: Cap Martinet, on the cliffs above Talamanca Bay
From the cliffs at Cap Martinet, the lights of Dalt Vila glitter across the bay at night. Destino Five is part of the Pacha Group, and adult guests get free entry to Pacha, subject to capacity. The main pool is shaped like the club's cherry logo. Cherry Suites add a large private pool, while the Luxe rooms with terraces are the sensible middle ground. Elia serves Greek dishes on a terrace facing the sunset. At lunch, Cielo is the place for the red lobster paella. Bathroom walls are frosted glass, which suits couples more than friends sharing. Tox Club sits a few meters away, so the mood leans toward the party. Nobody books here for an early night.
6. Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay
📍 Location: Talamanca, about a mile from Ibiza Town
"Flawless, absolutely flawless," Country & Town House wrote of this hotel on Talamanca Bay. Rooms come in white, gold and aqua. Each has windows that run from floor to ceiling, a terrace and a Persian marble bathroom stocked with Natura Bissé. The Nobu restaurant serves black cod miso and yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño. Up on the rooftop bar, the view runs across the bay to Dalt Vila, and the Panoramic Junior Sea View Suite takes in the same outlook. Daybeds by the pool need booking ahead and carry a minimum spend. A daily kids' club takes children from four.
Perfect for: Couples who want dinner and the clubs close by.
7. La Torre del Canonigo
📍 Location: Dalt Vila, the walled old quarter of Ibiza Town
From the terraces, the port spreads out below and Talamanca lies across the harbor. Rooms are spread over a tower built into the old walls and two houses beside it, with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, old stone walls and Mediterranean tiles. The Hotel Guru's advice is simple: "Go for those with a terrace." Several tower rooms add an outdoor soaking tub and the sunset terrace is the place for the last light over the sea. A small pool sits behind stone walls in the shade of olive trees. There is no spa, but massages can be booked out in the olive garden.
Summer evenings stay in the building. El Corsario serves dinner from June to mid September, with dishes like Formentera lobster, and La Bendita pours margaritas and cava behind red velvet drapes. The site is steep and has no lift, so it does not suit guests with limited mobility. Cars are restricted inside the walls, so message the hotel on WhatsApp for free shuttle up from the street.
8. BLESS Ibiza The Site
📍 Location: Playa d'en Bossa, south of Ibiza Town
Most guests come here for the food. The former Hard Rock Hotel reopened as BLESS in June 2026, with interiors by Lázaro Rosa-Violán in calm Balearic tones and natural textures. Within the wider complex sit Sublimotion, Tatel and Coya, along with two restaurants from Dani García. At Leña, knives hang against a wall of glowing embers, while Lobito de Mar serves paella at the table under a cane roof on the sand. Breakfast at La Sabina brings ceviche and cava under art deco glass, a breakfast worth a slow start.
Book the Junior Suite Solstice for its whirlpool tub behind glass, angled toward the sea. The hotel opens straight onto Playa d'en Bossa: almost three kilometers of sand, though the beach club loungers are plain by day. Balinese beds line the sandy edge of the main pool and a speakeasy hides up on the Cloud 9 rooftop for the season. Ushuaïa and Hï are a few hundred meters away, so light sleepers should ask about soundproofing.
Best for: A long weekend built around restaurants and clubs.

Every evening, a DJ plays at the Cone Club as the sun drops toward Es Vedrà. Each suite has a balcony or terrace, and the Cliff suites take the sea view. Garden pool suites add a private pool. Families should book around The Laguna, where the family pool and kids' club sit. The infinity pool, edged in glass, is kept for adults and teenagers. IKISAKI, which is the new Nikkei restaurant, is timed for sunset so book a table ahead. Pure Seven handles the spa. Although some guests have reported uneven service.
10. Petunia Ibiza, a Beaumier Hotel
📍 Location: On the hill above Cala Carbó, Sant Josep
Es Vedrà sits straight ahead from the hotel, and the restaurant terrace looks right out at it. Petunia is the only hotel on Ibiza with a Michelin Key. The studio Atelier Saint-Lazare kept the rooms simple, with white walls, raw wood and natural fabrics, plus a few flashes of 1970s color. Lamps, vases and glasses come from Gordiola, a Mallorcan glassworks. Rooms can feel a touch small, so book a Bougainvillea Suite for its private roof terrace. Time Out sums the place up as "pure relaxation through and through."
Out in the garden, herbs, tomatoes and artichokes grow among olive trees, rosemary and lavender. La Mesa d'Es Vedrà handles dinner, and Los Olivos is the more casual table. At sunset, head up to La Mirada on the roof for oysters and bluefin tuna tartare. Below, the saltwater pool is ringed with terracotta. The hotel can arrange kayaks or paddleboards for a morning on the water. Classic Land Rover Defenders run guests to the nearby coves for free, and Cala Vedella, with its beach restaurants, is close by.
